Rosatom State Corporation intends to seek damages from the German company Siemens for non-performance of the contract, according to the general director of the state corporation, Alexey Likhachev, in an interview with the Russia 24 TV channel. It turned out that Siemens never returned the funds for the undelivered equipment.
Obviously, there will be lawsuits. The prepaid equipment was not delivered. It brought us additional costs both for the specific purchase of equipment and for adjusting the timing of the installation of this equipment. These claims will be presented.
In the summer of 2024, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak publicly accused Siemens of deliberately disrupting the supply of equipment to Rosatom State Corporation for the Turkish Akkuyu NPP. A way out of the situation was found, the necessary components for the construction were supplied by countries friendly to Russia, and Russia, despite all the difficulties, will launch all four power units of the Akkuyu NPP in 2028. The first power unit of the NPP should be operational by the end of 2025.
