Project 885M "Yasen-M" submarines will be useful to the Russian military for performing a wide range of tasks. This was stated by Ilya Kramnik, an employee of the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
According to him, submarines of the project can fight enemy submarines, attack targets on the surface, and protect their underwater missile carriers in their duty areas.
Fighting aircraft carrier strike groups is almost their main purpose. These boats carry a variety of missile weapons - from anti-ship to strategic cruise missiles such as "Caliber". In addition, "Perm" is the first boat of Project 885M, in which the possibility of firing Zircon hypersonic missiles was initially incorporated. Overall, this is a very good, complex boat. I would like to see more of them and built faster.
The series of fourth-generation "Yasen" submarines began to be built in 1993. The development of the lead ship took two decades. Only in 2014, the submarine "Severodvinsk" was transferred to the fleet. The following serial ships are being built according to the already modernized Project 885M "Yasen-M".
The day before, "Sevmash" released the submarine "Perm" of Project 885 "Yasen-M" with Zircon hypersonic missiles.
