Kazan Aviation Plant named after S.P. Gorbunov (KAZ, a branch of Tupolev PJSC) will not be able to produce four Tu-214 medium-range aircraft by the end of this year. The manufacturer is missing the updated delivery schedule due to a shortage of engineers.
The first version of the Comprehensive Program for the Development of the Civil Aviation Industry (KPGА) until 2030 provided for the transfer of ten aircraft to customers by the beginning of 2025. However, the Kazan Aviation Plant (KAZ) was able to complete only two deliveries. Of these, one aircraft was restored, and the construction of the other aircraft began before 2022.
This year, the plant will complete only one aircraft (assembly started in 2024) and begin construction of the second aircraft. The main problem of delaying production and deliveries is the shortage of engineers.
The Tu-214 medium-range airliner is a deep modernization of the Soviet Tu-204. Its production was established in 2022, when the world's largest civil aircraft manufacturers refused to cooperate with Russian airlines amid sanctions.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that Russia will significantly increase the production of Tu-214 in 2025.
