Specialists of PJSC "KAMAZ" have assembled the first cab frame of the K5 generation truck. The vehicle is intended for transfer to the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The cab was manufactured as part of the second phase of the import substitution project for the flagship series of heavy trucks. This was reported by the press service of the manufacturing plant.
The cab for the new heavy truck will be narrower and lower than the flagship model KamAZ-54901. The design features a high engine tunnel, which provides a layout solution for a lower cab installation. This type is necessary for equipping the vehicle with specialized equipment.
An important difference of the new cab frame is the doors with a cutout for the wheel arch. To make such doors, two new large rolling dies and grippers were installed on the production line.
Project Manager "Localization of stamped parts of the K5 cab. Phase 2" Anton Kryukov stated that the new frame will be sent to the plant for cab assembly. Then, specialists will conduct vibration tests.
For the experienced team, which brought together 20 specialists from different departments of the company, this is a successful result of work that lasted a little over a year.
PJSC "KAMAZ" expects that the development will replace the K3 generation cabs in the future.
