"Uralvagonzavod" started modernizing T-72B3M tanks with "Relikt" protection with increased resistance

Protection against kinetic projectiles increased from 650 to 720 mm

T-72B3M tanks of the 2024 model were spotted on the production line of "Uralvagonzavod". The upper frontal part of the hull of the combat vehicles received elements of 4S23 "Relikt" dynamic protection (DZ), which increased the equivalent resistance against kinetic projectiles from 650 to 720 mm and against cumulative projectiles - about 1100-1200 mm.

Military analyst Yeveniy Damantsev drew attention to the fact that the frontal and zygomatic sectors of the turret armor plates are still covered by elements of 4S22 DZ "Kontakt-5", which do not have anti-tandem action and have inter-spar gaps with a width of about 70-80 mm.

Specialists in repair battalions are retrofitting similar wedge-shaped pairs of 4S22 "Kontakt-5" EDZ with an additional tier of 4S20 EDZ to partially implement the anti-tandem effect.
Evgeny Damantsev, military expert

"Relikt" is distinguished by its high maintainability, which is achieved by its modular design. The use of a new explosive composition made it possible to increase the reliability and efficiency of the dynamic protection complex against armor-piercing fin-stabilized discarding sabot projectiles.

Earlier www1.ru reported that specialists turned a kamikaze drone into a missile, accelerating it to 280 km/h.
