Footage has appeared online of a Russian MiG-31 interceptor escorting a US Air Force B-1 Lancer strategic bomber. The video was published by the Telegram channel "Voevoda broadcasts".
The video shows how the Russian military aircraft at full afterburner matched the American aircraft in the air, and then moved away from it. The location of the aerial meeting is not specified.
The MiG-31 is designed to intercept any aerial targets and, if necessary, destroy them. The fighter's afterburning engines develop a total thrust of more than 30 tons, and the interceptor's nozzles are the size of quarry dump truck wheels.
The maximum speed of the MiG-31 at altitude is 2800 km/h. In this mode, the flight range is seriously reduced, but the Rockwell B-1 Lancer with a maximum speed of 2300 km/h is an easy target for it.
Earlier www1.ru reported that specialists turned a kamikaze drone into a missile, accelerating it to 280 km/h.
