On Tuesday afternoon, March 18, a Russian fourth-generation Su-30SM fighter was spotted in the skies of Syria. The footage went viral on social networks.
The aircraft flew close to the ground over the Khmeimim Air Base in Syrian Latakia. The Russian Ministry of Defense has not made any official statements regarding this.
The Su-30SM is designed to destroy both aerial and ground targets with a wide range of guided and unguided weapons of the "air-to-surface" and "air-to-air" classes.
The two-seat Su-30SM fighter, in addition to solving combat missions, can be used to train pilots on advanced multi-functional super-maneuverable single-seat fighters.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the Russian SSJ-100 New aircraft has started the flight part of certification tests.
