Roscosmos Starts Assembling Antennas for New Relay Satellite

Specialists from "RESHETNEV" are working on the modernized satellite "Luch-5VM"

The State Corporation Roscosmos has announced the start of assembling large antennas for the new relay satellite "Luch-5VM". It is being developed by the company "RESHETNEV". The satellite is designed to improve the orbital constellation of the multifunctional space relay system "Luch".

The assembly of the antennas has already begun. The transformable structures have an impressive diameter in the unfolded state - four and five meters, the press service of the state corporation reported. The satellite will be able to efficiently transmit data from low-orbit spacecraft to Earth and back.

The "Luch" system plays an important role in providing communication between ground stations, low-orbit satellites, and manned and cargo ships. It also supports communication with the Russian segment of the International Space Station.

The new satellite "Luch-5VM" will be a significant step forward in the development of space communications and will improve the quality of information transmission, the state corporation believes.
