Polar Airlines, at the request of Russian Post, organized a flight from the village of Tiksi to Yakutsk. On board the plane were unusual passengers — domestic reindeer belonging to the municipal unitary enterprise "Bulunskoye."
A cargo aircraft An-26 was used to transport the animals. This aircraft, known for its ability to fly in difficult climatic conditions, was the best choice for transporting reindeer.
We have previously transported a polar bear, musk oxen, reindeer and are familiar with all the features that must be taken into account when organizing transportation.
Specialists carefully prepared everything necessary for a comfortable and safe flight for the animals. Waterproof fabric was laid in the cabin of the An-26 aircraft, sprinkled with sawdust and a temporary fence was installed. The flight proceeded as normal.
The animals were delivered to Yakutsk for the Fourth Congress of Reindeer Herders.
Earlier it became known that Russia wants to increase the service life of the An-26. The service life of the aircraft until the next overhaul will be 26 thousand flight hours.
