Two Tu-22M3 long-range bomber-missile carriers performed a scheduled flight over the neutral waters of the Baltic Sea. At certain stages, they were accompanied by foreign fighters, the Ministry of Defense reported.
The fighter escort was provided by crews of Su-30SM and Su-27 aircraft of the Aerospace Forces. The flight lasted more than four hours.
Long-range aviation crews regularly fly over the neutral waters of the Arctic, Pacific Ocean, North Atlantic, Black and Baltic Seas.
All flights of the Russian Aerospace Forces are carried out in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace, the Ministry of Defense emphasized.
