The Ministry of Economic Development of Russia plans to conduct an experiment to introduce a "self-ban" function for purchases on marketplaces. The new tool will allow users to limit or completely prohibit themselves from making purchases.
This measure is aimed at helping people control their spending and combat impulsive expenses.
Before launching the experiment, it is planned to study the experience of using a similar function in the areas of consumer loans and gambling. The analysis will help assess the effectiveness and potential risks of self-banning on purchases.
A similar self-restriction function has already been successfully implemented on the "Gosuslugi" portal for loans. In the first two days of the service's operation, 1.7 million people used it, but this did not stop fraudsters from using phishing schemes to circumvent the restrictions. Therefore, security and protection against fraudsters will become priority tasks in the development of the "self-ban" system on marketplaces.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that sellers complained to the FAS about automatic "hot" sales on marketplaces.
