The Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) has announced plans to reduce the time for issuing drone flight permits to one day. In the future, by 2027, this time may be reduced to 12 hours thanks to the introduction of a digital platform that will unite all air traffic participants.
Currently, the process of obtaining permits takes from three to five days, which is associated with the need to close the airspace for other aircraft. With the launch of the Digital Platform of the Unified Air Traffic Management System (ATM System) in 2025, information about the closure of the sky will be communicated to users in 24 hours. Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko instructed Rosaviatsiya to explore the possibility of reducing the time to 12 hours.
The creation of the platform, announced in November 2023, includes several modules that will be implemented in stages. In particular, the system for submitting flight plans via the Internet and telephone network will be launched in 2025, and full integration of all airspace users is expected in 2027.
Industry participants note that reducing the time for obtaining permits is critical for rapid response and the development of the drone market. According to experts, the optimal time for obtaining permits should not exceed several hours, which will avoid unauthorized flights and increase safety.
