Government of the Russian Federation to Expedite Anti-Fraud Measures Without Delay

Putin Orders Development of Comprehensive Bill to Combat Online Fraud Without Red Tape

President Vladimir Putin has instructed to accelerate the development of regulatory measures to combat fraud in Russia, emphasizing the need to avoid a "cooling-off period" in decision-making.

He stressed the importance of the rapid implementation of these measures to improve the effectiveness of countering criminal activities, such as telephone and online fraud.

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko reported that a comprehensive bill is being developed to combat online fraud, which should deprive cybercriminals of the opportunity to use existing mass fraud schemes. He noted that the main emphasis is on providing citizens with simple tools for self-defense and excluding the possibility for fraudsters to exploit already popular schemes.

The introduction of a self-ban on receiving foreign calls is also being discussed, which will become part of a general package of measures aimed at strengthening the protection of citizens against fraudulent activities.
