In 2024, the amount of damage from remote fraud in Russia increased by 36%, amounting to 200 billion rubles. This is 53 billion more than in 2023, when the damage amounted to 147 billion rubles, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
The increase in damage is mainly due to the increased use of credit funds in fraudulent schemes. In 2024, 765 thousand crimes were registered, of which 486 thousand were remote thefts, including fraud and theft. This is 2% more compared to 2023, when the number of such crimes increased by 28%.
Khrapov also noted that the number of affected citizens remained at a similar level for two years: in 2023 - 448.5 thousand people, in 2024 - 448.9 thousand.
