Footage Emerges of "Package" of 9M53F Projectiles with Separable Warhead Launched by Grad MLRS Unit

The Ministry of Defense has releasedfootage of combat operations by a Grad multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) unit. The unit fired a package of 9M53F rockets at a target.

The 9M53F ammunition received a separable warhead with a high-explosive fragmentation warhead, and the combat vehicles were equipped with the Kapustnik-B fire control system.

This made it possible to reduce the time spent at a firing position without lengthy topographic referencing by 4-5 times, and also to increase the effective area of destruction by 5-7 times.

The 9M53F high-explosive fragmentation projectile has a separable warhead with a 9E260-1 head electronic-mechanical remote-contact fuse of a safety type with remote-contact action installed on it.

  • Projectile weight - 70 kg
  • Minimum projectile range - 5 km, maximum - 20.4 km
  • Warhead weight - 25 kg
