Combining the "Shmel" Flamethrower and a Ground Robot Led to an Unexpected Result

The complex's operating range turned out to be too short

Russian military personnel began equipping ground-based robotic systems with "Shmel" flamethrowers. However, the rather modest range often does not allow the flamethrower crew to safely use the system.

Soldiers noted that the real effective range of the "Shmel" is about 600 m. Given the abundance of small drones, the risks for military personnel are too high.

Therefore, volunteers are creating a prototype robotic complex equipped with six launchers of the RPO "Shmel" with a much greater operating range. It is assumed that the operator will be able to control the complex from a safe place via cable, fiber optics, or secure wireless communication channels.

Robotic platforms with the RPO "Shmel" are already being used on the line of combat contact, one of them being the small unmanned vehicle "Tarik".

In the second half of February, several videos appeared online showing the successful use of flamethrower weapons, with which the complex mainly hit strongholds. However, there is no information about the design features of "Tarik" in the public domain.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the newest minesweeper "Anatoly Shlemov" destroyed BECs and mines in the Pacific Ocean with fire from the AK-306 artillery.
