Seven planets will line up on one side of the Sun on February 28

Earthlings will be able to observe a unique astronomical phenomenon: seven planets will line up on one side of the Sun on the evening of February 28, 2024. This was announced by Nikolai Zhevnov, a senior researcher at the Institute of Applied Astronomy of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

A similar arrangement of celestial bodies will only happen again in May 2161.

Saturn, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, and Mars will be visible in the sky. A pair of binoculars or a small telescope will be needed to observe Uranus and Neptune. The scientist noted that the planets will be distributed throughout the sky, so viewers should prepare in advance to search for them.

The scientist emphasized that the best way to observe the parade of planets is from west to east.

Saturn will be in the west, Mercury and Neptune can be seen next to it, and the bright Venus will be slightly higher. Uranus and Jupiter will be in the southern part of the sky, and Mars will be closer to the east. The planets that will be in the west can only be seen in the evening, as they will disappear one after another below the horizon after the Sun. The remaining planets can be observed all night.
