The modernized AK-12 assault rifle, based on combat experience, was presented in May 2023 and has already begun to be supplied to the troops. It has an improved diopter sight and an improved forend, the fire control system has become two-sided, and the muzzle device is non-removable.

In addition, the burst mode of two shots was excluded from the assault rifle, as it did not lead to a significant increase in efficiency, but complicated the design.
