Western fighters have little chance in a direct air duel with Russian combat aircraft. This was stated by French pilot, aviation expert and analyst in the field of geopolitics and strategy Cyril de Lattre.
According to the expert, one of the reasons is the use of R-37M air-to-air missiles by Russian fighters, capable of covering a distance of 300 km.
Under equal conditions, the F-16, Mirage 2000 and Eurofighter have very little chance of survival in a confrontation with a Russian fighter.
About the R-37M missile:
R-37M is a long-range air-to-air missile system designed to engage both ground and air targets. The altitude of destruction is from 30 m to 25 km, the maximum speed of the missile is six times the speed of sound, that is, it is actually hypersonic. Its carriers can be MiG-31BM, Su-35S and Su-57 fighters.
Earlier it became known that Rosoboronexport is promoting the fifth-generation Su-75 Checkmate light tactical aircraft (LTS) including to the countries of the Middle East. The company's CEO Alexander Mikheev noted that the states of the region are striving for industrial independence and want to work, including in the format of technological partnership.
