The Progress MS-28 cargo spacecraft, which has been at the International Space Station since August 2024, has completed its mission and was sunk in the Pacific Ocean.
The ship was deorbited, entered the dense layers of the atmosphere and disintegrated. Unburned fragments of the structure fell in a non-navigable area of the southern Pacific Ocean.
During its six-month mission, Progress MS-28 performed ten station orbit corrections, including two maneuvers to avoid space debris.
Progress MS-28 arrived at the ISS on August 17, 2024, delivering 2.6 tons of cargo, including equipment, scientific instruments, clothing, food and gifts for the crew. Among the equipment was the SPIN-X1-MVN X-ray spectrometer, which the cosmonauts installed outside the Zvezda module in December.
A new Progress MS-30 cargo ship will dock to the ISS in its place. The Soyuz-2.1a carrier rocket with the ship has already been installed at launch pad No. 31 of the Baikonur Cosmodrome. The launch is scheduled for February 28, and docking with the orbital station is scheduled for March 2.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the Soyuz-2.1a rocket with the Progress MS-30 spacecraft was installed at the launch.
