The American company Maxar Technologies has released satellite images showing a Su-57 fighter and an Il-76 military transport aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces at an Iranian airbase in Bandar Abbas.
Russian aircraft landed in Iran on their way from the Aero India 2025 international air show. Judging by satellite images, the Su-57 and Il-76 were in Bandar Abbas from February 19 to 21.
The Iranian Air Force needs the Su-57
The multi-purpose Russian fifth-generation fighter attracted a lot of attention at Aero India 2025. Military expert Evgeny Damantsev did not rule out that in the near future the Su-57 will have new buyers, including Iran.
The combat radius of the Su-57E with a full fuel system at a flight speed of 950 km/h at high altitude is 2100 km. When placing 2 suspended fuel tanks (PTB), it increases to 2700 km at the same flight speed and echelon.
If the Su-57 moves at supersonic cruising speed of 1.35M with 100% filling of the fuel system, then the radius of action is reduced to 1100 km. The tactical aircraft fleet of the Iranian Air Force needs aircraft with such characteristics, Damantsev summarized.
