Preparation for the serial production of Lada Iskra is not easy: the number of defects remains high, especially in the sedan body, and components are still in short supply. This was reported by the insider public Avtograd.
During the five-day working week, a total of about 10 cars in different body types were assembled on the assembly line, the number of defects during assembly is steadily decreasing, especially for the sedan version.
The progress on the station wagon body is not yet as noticeable, but it is there. Insiders reported that the problem with the rear of the car, especially in the joints of the fifth door with the rear lights and gaps, has not yet been resolved. Nevertheless, work on this problem continues, and, according to insiders, improvements will certainly be made.
It is not yet possible to produce a batch of more than 20 cars, as was the case on February 7 of this year, due to a shortage of some components. But, according to some information, the process should accelerate from the second half of March, and it is also planned to return to the practice of 12-hour work shifts with double pay on Saturdays on the Granta line.
Currently, Lada Iskra is available mainly in three colors: "White Ice", "Black Panther" and "Platinum". However, cars of blue, red and orange shades also come off the assembly line. Some of these cars will be sent to the press park to participate in various events in the future.
Lada Iskra is the first car created by AvtoVAZ independently, without the participation of foreign partners. The car will be presented in three body styles: sedan, station wagon and cross-station wagon. Under the hood, there will be 1.6-liter engines with a capacity of 90 and 106 horsepower, which will be combined with a 5- or 6-speed manual gearbox, as well as a variator. Serial production of the car will begin in April.
