Russian T220 targeting pod unexpectedly spotted on Algerian Air Force MiG-29M

The complex was developed for MiG-29SMT, MiG-29M/M2 (MiG-35), MiG-29K/KUB, Su-30SM and Su-35S fighters

Unexpected footage of an Algerian Air Force MiG-29M fighter with a T220 targeting pod on the engine nacelle has appeared online.

It is worth recalling that the pod was developed by JSC "NPK "SPP". According to known data, the system is intended for equipping MiG-29SMT, MiG-29M/M2 (MiG-35), MiG-29K/KUB, Su-30SM and Su-35S aircraft. The length of the complex is 2.4 m, the diameter is 0.37 m.

Suspended targeting pods (PPC) turn fighters into universal combat vehicles capable of not only shooting down enemy aircraft, but also destroying ground targets with high accuracy.

Currently, PPCs have become a mandatory attribute of the Air Forces of all developed countries. They are installed not only on machines such as F-15, F-16, Rafale, but even on screw training aircraft.
