Russian military personnel have mounted a 30-mm automatic cannon from a BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicle on the carriage of a D-44 gun. The footageappeared online.
The 2A42 is an automatic cannon designed for installation on various platforms. Depending on the ammunition used, the weapon is capable of engaging personnel, unprotected and armored vehicles, as well as buildings and aircraft. The weight without ammunition is 115 kg, the total length of the gun exceeds 3 m.
The gun is equipped with a rifled 30 mm caliber barrel and a well-developed two-chamber muzzle brake. The barrel is fixed in a complex-shaped receiver, which houses all the main parts and assemblies. The barrel is locked by turning the bolt; a shot is fired when fully locked.
