Russian military personnel have installed a 30-mm automatic cannon from a BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicle on a D-44 gun carriage. Footage appeared online.
The 2A42 is an automatic cannon designed for installation on various platforms. Depending on the ammunition used, the weapon is capable of engaging manpower, unprotected and armored vehicles, as well as buildings and aircraft. The weight without ammunition is 115 kg, and the total length of the cannon exceeds 3 m.
The cannon is equipped with a rifled 30 mm caliber barrel and a developed two-chamber muzzle brake. The barrel is fixed in a complex-shaped receiver, which houses all the main parts and assemblies. The barrel is locked by rotating the bolt; a shot is fired when fully locked.
