Russian "air-to-ground" ACARS system transmitted millions of messages in 2024

The system provided the transmission of 28 million messages between aircraft and control centers

The Russian ACARS data exchange system ensured the transmission of over 28 million messages between aircraft and flight control centers in 2024. The number of airlines connected to the system has more than doubled.

The "air-to-ground" ACARS system allows real-time transmission of information about the condition of aircraft, weather data, operational plans, and other important information. This helps airlines optimize operations and prepare aircraft maintenance in advance after landing.

Until March 2022, the ACARS service in Russia was provided by foreign providers, but under sanctions, it became unavailable to Russian air carriers. Rostec developed and implemented a domestic solution that completely replaced foreign counterparts. With the support of the Infocom-Avia state corporation, a network of ground stations was deployed on key aviation routes, and a data processing center was created.
