The latest Russian S-500 "Triumfator-M" anti-aircraft defense system (ADS) is potentially capable of intercepting missiles with characteristics similar to the Russian Oreshnik medium-range hypersonic system. This opinion was expressed by military expert Mikhail Khodarenok.
It is quite possible, again, we can only assume that tasks to intercept targets such as "Oreshnik" can, for example, be performed by the S-500 "Triumfator-M" anti-aircraft missile system. But this is just my personal opinion that it can handle such a task. I also do not exclude that the S-400 air defense system can cope with air attack weapons such as "Oreshnik".
The analyst emphasized that to verify this assumption, appropriate tests are needed.
If something like this is being done somewhere, we do not have enough information to judge whether the task is being solved effectively or not. However, in my opinion, of the missile defense systems available to the collective West in terms of missile defense, the American THAAD missile defense system is not up to this task at this stage.
The S-500 has no analogues in the world. It is designed to destroy all existing and future air and space attack weapons of a potential enemy in the entire range of altitudes and speeds. Specialists have been trained to work on it since 2017. The S-500 will replace the S-400 Triumf air defense system.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Rosoboronexport presented the improved BMP-3, taking into account the requirements of modern combat.
