Device for detecting defects in urban infrastructure created at NSU

New system operates under AI control

A device for detecting defects in urban infrastructure has been developed and patented at Novosibirsk State University (NSU). This was reported by the university's press service.

This is a hybrid boxed solution, which is an intelligent system that, with the help of video recording cameras installed in the city and a specially trained neural network, can accurately identify various defects in urban infrastructure and engineering and technical communications (non-working light poles or traffic lights, potholes on roads, etc.), and then, using a logical-semantic block, form a solution to eliminate these problems.
Andrey Nechesov, author of the development

The invention relates to the field of information technology and can be used to monitor the condition of urban infrastructure (roads, houses, bridges, squares, and engineering and technical communications).

The device is based on data from surveillance cameras and sensors installed on various urban objects. Sensors can record which lamp is on and which is not, as well as detect damage to engineering communications.

The collected information is analyzed by a special program and then transmitted to the operator or another program. In the future, such software will form the toolkit of a digital twin of urban infrastructure.

Earlier www1.ru reported that a new method of protecting buildings from collapse was developed at VyatSU.
