At the Vitus Bering Kamchatka State University (KamSU) and the Institute of Cosmophysical Research and Radio Wave Propagation FEB RAS (IKIR FEB RAS), a mathematical model for earthquake prediction has been developed.
Scientists have found a new approach to the analysis of the geoacoustic mission (the study of elastic waves arising in the process of restructuring the internal structure of the earth's crust).
In reality, the earth's crust accumulates and "remembers" previous states (deformations), which affect its further behavior. Our mathematical model takes into account the effect of heredity in the components that are responsible for energy dissipation (friction or dissipation), and this, in turn, allows us to more accurately describe the processes preceding seismic events.
The difference between the new model is the use of the mathematical apparatus of fractional calculus. This makes it possible to take into account the gradual accumulation of deformations in rocks, in other words, to monitor the processes preceding earthquakes.
Earlier www1.ru reported that a platform for predicting earthquakes was developed in Novosibirsk.
