Footage of the combat operation of a soldier with the latest Verba man-portable air defense system (MANPADS) against an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) for optoelectronic reconnaissance, probably the Leleka-100 or Valkyrie, has appeared online, according to analyst Yevgeny Damantsev.
The soldier used a 9M336 anti-aircraft guided missile (SAM), Damantsev noted. The munition with a three-spectrum ultraviolet-infrared homing head ( seeker) successfully intercepted the enemy's UAV at an altitude of 850-1300 m.
The calculations of a full-fledged battery of inexpensive Verba MANPADS are capable of intercepting Lyuty kamikaze drones with similar efficiency at distances of up to 3.5 km. Three batteries of complexes receiving target designation from deployed Garmon radars at a dominant height can repel an attack by 18 UAVs.
The maximum speed of targets hit by the Verba MANPADS is 400 m/s, the radius of action is 6 km, while the height of the targets hit is about 3.5 km.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the unique Sarych-2 reconnaissance drone with its own protection against electronic warfare and an HD camera has entered service with the military.
