The projectiles of the Russian "Derivation" air defense system are capable of destroying enemy drones. Military expert Viktor Litovkin named the advantages of the combat vehicle.
According to him, the "Derivation" is actually a powerful and rapid-firing gun that is located on the chassis of an infantry fighting vehicle.
Its projectile, especially a fragmentation one, fired at a drone, will certainly smash it to smithereens.
Litovkin added that the "Derivation" is capable of eliminating targets at a distance of 2–3 km, while conventional anti-drone systems shoot down devices at a distance of 500–600 m. He also noted that the effectiveness of the weapon is affected by the operator's ability to detect an aerial threat in a timely manner.
The "Derivation-Air Defense" anti-aircraft artillery complex carries a remotely controlled combat module with a machine gun and a 57 mm automatic cannon. The complex is equipped with passive means of reconnaissance and tracking of aerial targets.
