Без человеческого фактора не значит, что без аварий: названо число ДТП с участием экспериментальных беспилотных авто

A total of 36 accidents were recorded, but only two of them were the fault of self-driving cars

The Ministry of Economic Development has summarized the results of the experiment with self-driving cars. During the testing period, 36 accidents occurred, but only two of them were the fault of the cars. The experiment is planned to be continued, changing its conditions.

Of the 36 recorded cases, 26 occurred when the self-driving cars were in automated driving mode, that is, the driver only intervened when necessary.

Another 10 road traffic accidents occurred when the driver was controlling the vehicle in manual mode. Two accidents were the fault of the self-driving car, and the rest were due to other road users.

From April 2022 to November 2024, Russia conducted an experiment to test self-driving cars, which was called the "Experimental Legal Regime" (ELR).

Earlier, www1.ru reported that the Ministry of Transport had taken a significant step towards making self-driving cars a common sight on Russian roads. A draft of a new government decree has been developed, which includes an updated classification of highly automated vehicles. This important decision is necessary to start the process of certifying such cars.
