An advertisement has appeared on Avito for the sale of a 1967 GAZ-21 "Volga" car, which was previously used in police units. The owner is asking for 2,690,000 rubles for the rarity - for this price you can buy a Chinese crossover with zero mileage. This "Volga" also traveled very little, the owner writes that the odometer shows 99 km. Most likely, such a small mileage of a 58-year-old car was achieved only thanks to a complete restoration.
The seller does not specify whether the car was an original traffic police vehicle or a restored replica. However, the advertisement states that all special equipment, including the flashing beacon, radio and loudspeaker, is in working order.
The car has undergone a complete restoration: the body, interior, engine, gearbox and chassis have been restored. Judging by the photos, the car is in excellent condition.
Its bright yellow color is complemented by blue stripes with the inscription "Militia" and an image of the state emblem of the USSR, and the abbreviation GAI is applied to the trunk lid. It is worth noting that this color scheme began to be used in the late 1960s, while previously police cars were painted blue with a red stripe.
The GAZ-21 "Volga" was one of the most famous models of its time. Having replaced the "Pobeda" in 1956, ten years later it was awarded the main role in Eldar Ryazanov's film "Beware of the Car", and later, in 1968, it "starred" in "Three Poplars on Plyushchikha". In 1970, it was replaced by a new version - GAZ-24, which quickly became the main vehicle in the traffic police fleets and other units of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Earlier in the Netherlands, a rare Lada 1200 (VAZ-21013) model, manufactured in 1986, was put up for sale. This car spent most of its life in Hungary, and only arrived in the Netherlands in 2013.
