In 2025, Russia plans to launch two new satellites and weather monitoring devices into orbit. This was announced by the head of the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring, Igor Shumakov.
This year, we expect the launch of two more of the same "Ionosphere-M" devices, the "Obzor" radar device, and the "Electro-L" No. 5 geostationary hydrometeorological satellite. Thus, we have five more launches planned.
Shumakov noted that in 2024, the Russian orbital space group was replenished with six new spacecraft. Currently, it already has 20 satellites.
These new launches will improve the monitoring of magnetic storms and increase the accuracy of weather forecasts, which is important for various sectors of the economy and the country's security.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the first photos from space from the Russian weather satellite "Arktika-M" No. 2 have appeared.
