The Russian military received the first heavy experimental quad bike, assembled from parts of the domestic VAZ-2114 car, known as the "fourteen". Footage of the novelty has appeared online.
The driver of the evacuation group of the detachment with the call sign "Apostol" noted that the quad bike is still being finalized.
It has an engine from a VAZ 2114. An eight-valve engine, struts, all the chassis, steering - everything is from domestic cars, everything is from the 14th, that's what makes it good. The advantage of domestic components is that they can be found in any store, in any collective farm. For other ATVs, you have to order spare parts and wait a very long time.
The military man noted that the Chinese ATVs used in the army have engines with a volume of 500-800 cubic cm on average, while the developed model has 1.5 thousand cubic cm. It has enough power to carry three people in equipment and with things at once. The transport is also used for the evacuation of the wounded.
There are no complaints yet, except for the weight of 600 kg. However, the quad bike has not yet gotten stuck anywhere. The advantage of the large weight is that it turned out to be less prone to overturning in difficult terrain. This is a common problem when driving light ATVs.
