The Russian military has begun using a new missile for the Iskander-M operational-tactical missile system (OTRK). Its warhead is located inside a streamlined body and, upon impact, continues to move by inertia into the depth of the structure or soil.
At a speed of about 950-1150 m/s, such a warhead can dig tens of meters into soft ground. When it hits a building, the missile can penetrate concrete floor slabs and explode inside the protected room.
Such strikes are especially sensitive and effective when missilemen interact with intelligence in real time. It is conducted within reconnaissance-strike complexes, in which intelligence structures directly transmit data to the command and staff vehicles of missile divisions, where information about targets is prepared and flight missions for missiles are formed.
Iskander-M is used to destroy enemy air defense systems, as well as other critical facilities at a maximum range of up to 500 km.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the newest electronic warfare system "Yolochka" was developed in Russia.
