Russian military personnel have deployed strike drones to destroy unmanned boats (BEC) in the Black Sea instead of crews of combat helicopters. The first shots appeared online.
The video shows an X-UAV loitering munition destroying a BEC from the board of an Orion reconnaissance drone.
Military expert Evgeny Damantsev noted that this tactic will supplant outdated methods of combating BEC with crews of multi-purpose and transport-attack helicopters Mi-8 and Mi-24VP.
They were forced to approach the BEC at a distance of less than 2 km to use PKM, GShG-7.62 and AP GSh-23L machine guns. Ultimately, this could lead to the launch of R-73RMD-2 missiles in anti-aircraft modification from the BEC guides at our rotary-wing machines.
A former pilot previously suggested that the problem with enemy BECs will be resolved when the military learns to effectively jam the communication system frequencies for boats. At the same time, he recalled that in three years, neither side has been able to do this.
