Tu-160M strategic missile-carrying bombers have received the latest strapdown inertial navigation systems BINS-SP2 based on three laser gyroscopes and three quartz accelerometers. Military expert Evgeny Damantsev spoke about the advantages of the complex.
According to him, the same systems are installed on Su-30SM, Su-35S and Su-57 fighters.
BINS provide a root mean square error of coordinate calculation of 1.85 km per 1 hour of operation without using the GLONASS/GPS correction radio navigation unit and 0.03 km (30 m) with the use of the radio navigation module.
The BINS-SP2 system is designed to determine the location of an object, comprehensively process and provide navigation and flight information. The system is capable of autonomously determining the coordinates and parameters of the movement of the object on which it is installed in the absence of signals from the outside.
The BINS-SP2 system is capable of operating at ultra-high and ultra-low temperatures from -60 to +60 degrees at altitudes up to 25 km, its technical characteristics correspond to the best world analogues.
Tu-160 is a Russian supersonic strategic missile-carrying bomber with variable sweep wings. Along with the Tu-95M, the aircraft forms the basis of the modern air fleet of the long-range aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces.
The "White Swan" is designed to operate with nuclear and conventional weapons against targets in remote areas. The Tu-160 is the largest supersonic aircraft in the history of military aviation.
Earlierwww1.ru reported that the advantages of the latest self-propelled anti-tank complex "Cornet" became known.
