The Russian "KUB-2-E" strike drone from the "Kalashnikov" concern is fundamentally different from the first-generation "KUB" model. The key feature of the drone is a new body shape that improves the technical characteristics of the device, said Maxim Kondratyev, founder of the unmanned aviation training center.
On Tuesday, January 21, the "Kalashnikov" concern announced the development of asmall and medium class "KUB-2-E" loitering munition. It will be presented at the IDEX 2025 international arms and defense technology exhibition, which will be held from February 17 to 21 in Abu Dhabi (UAE).
The first "KUB" looked like a "Geran" on the outside - it had a swept-wing shape. It had two half-wings, respectively, in the "KUB-2-E" a fundamentally different design of the unmanned complex glider is used, here there are already four half-wings. As far as I understand, judging by its external data, it is built according to a more efficient aerodynamic scheme to increase its time in the air, range of use and level of maneuverability.
Kondratyev also does not rule out that the new kamikaze drone is equipped with serious navigation systems, communication and telemetry channels, more resistant to electronic warfare (EW) equipment. In addition, the "KUB-2-E" probably uses an improved optoelectronic system.
