The promising Volat V2 modular armored personnel carrier has been developed in Belarus. The new product was produced at the Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant, the final stage of running and fire tests is being completed.
The vehicle was built on a classic four-axle 8x8 chassis with pivoting front two wheel pairs. The frontal projection is made in a "wedge-shaped" type, this arrangement provides reliable protection against 12.7-mm armor-piercing projectiles. The novelty received a WP13.550A0 diesel engine with a capacity of 550 hp. The weight of the car is 22 tons.
A combat compartment of two types has been developed for the armored personnel carrier. The first compartment is a welded modular turret with a 30-mm 2A42 automatic cannon capable of firing ZUBR-8 Kerner armor-piercing projectiles with a penetration of up to 55 mm of armor plates at a distance of about 1000 m. The compartment also received the Tucha aerosol curtain system and optoelectronic complexes based on Catherine-CF thermal imaging modules.
The second compartment is a deeply modernized BMP-2 turret combat module with optoelectronic sighting devices similar to those used on the Berezhok combat modules with Sodema multi-channel sighting devices.
Earlier www1.ru reported that a new launcher has been developed for the Lancet series kamikaze drone.
