ТПУ разработал новые органические соединения — прорыв в борьбе с раком

Scientists have synthesized substances that are more effective than existing drugs against prostate adenocarcinoma, ovarian cancer, and breast cancer

Researchers from Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) have developed new organic compounds that could form the basis for drugs against prostate adenocarcinoma, ovarian cancer, and breast cancer. We will tell you more about the work of Tomsk scientists.

In some chemical substances, both found in nature and created in laboratories, there is a special group of atoms. It is called quinone. Substances containing these atoms can help in the treatment of various diseases. Some of them are used to fight tuberculosis, malaria, infections, and cancer.

TPU scientists synthesized new derivatives of 1,4-naphthoquinone fluorosulfate and studied their biological and electrochemical properties.

According to the researchers, the most effective samples outperform the well-known platinum-based chemotherapeutic drug in their effect on cancer cells.

The results of the studies demonstrated that the new organic compounds have potential as anti-tumor agents for the treatment of certain types of cancer. In the future, they may form the basis for the development of drugs.

We have developed a method for determining their content in the substance, which will ensure compliance with quality standards and pharmacological requirements.
