The multipurpose frigate of project 22350 "Admiral of the Fleet Kasatonov" has begun preparation for the upcoming long voyage. This was reported in the press service of the Northern Fleet of Russia.
The crew of the warship successfully completed a number of tasks in the near maritime zone, including firing high-precision missile weapons.
Performing long-range ocean voyage tasks will become one of the main areas of training for crews of multipurpose frigates of the Northern Fleet.
The fleet's press service recalled that in the Mediterranean Sea the tasks of a long voyage are currently being carried out by the frigate of the Northern Fleet "Admiral Golovko". At the end of last year, the frigate "Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Gorshkov" also returned from a long ocean voyage to its permanent base.
Frigates of project 22350 are multifunctional combat carriers of high-precision long-range missile weapons. The ships are capable of effectively combating surface, underwater and air forces of the enemy, as well as striking at coastal, ground and surface targets.
The armament of the frigates of the project includes anti-ship missiles "Caliber" or "Onyx", anti-aircraft missile system "Poliment-Redut", anti-submarine torpedo complex "Paket-NK" and artillery installation. A Ka-27 helicopter can be based on board the ships.
