The Institute of Applied Geophysics reported a second X-class solar flare - X1.1, occurring in the same active region as X1.2 a few hours earlier.
They are similar in power and radiation profile, but their origin remains unclear. Its active region is small. The first flare surprised scientists with its energy potential.
The situation will become clearer in the coming days, as the active region is only a day old and there is no historical data on its activity. Tomorrow the spots will become more visible, which will help to collect more information about them.
So far, the flares do not pose a threat to Earth, as they occur far away. However, in two days, the active center will begin to approach the Sun-Earth line, and the impact on the magnetosphere may increase.
Earlier,www1.rureported that on Friday afternoon, the first highest class X flare of 2025 occurred on the Sun.
