Russian submarines of Project 885M Yasen-M can suddenly shoot American submarines at close range. This conclusion was reached by the journal The National Interest.
Journalists noted that submarines of this class are capable of approaching US or NATO submarines closely using ultra-quiet equipment.
Then the Yasen-M is capable of suddenly attacking with its 533-millimeter torpedoes. The same can be said about attacks against surface ships.
The publication added that Russian submarines have powerful missile weapons in the form of cruise missilesKalibr and Onyx, and are also capable of carrying the Zircon hypersonic complex. It is emphasized that the United States is completely unable to defend against hypersonic weapons.
Submarines of Project 885 Yasen are a series of domestic multipurpose submarines of the fourth generation. The lead ship of the project is the nuclear submarine Severodvinsk - entered the fleet in 2014.
Starting with the second boat in the series, the submarines were built according to the modernized Project Yasen-M. Currently, the Navy has one submarineof Project 885 and four ships ofProject 885M.
