Rostec Launches Russia's First "Green" Power Plant in the Moscow Region

RT-Invest (part of Rostec) has commissioned the first of five waste-to-energy plants. The facility is located in the Voskresensk urban district of the Moscow region.

Waste enters the facility after mandatory industrial sorting. Materials suitable for recycling are sent to partners who manufacture new products from them.

Fractions unsuitable for recycling are incinerated and converted into electricity. The plant is capable of processing 700,000 tons of municipal solid waste per year, which will produce 520 million kWh of "green" energy. This is enough to supply electricity to 80,000 residents.

The commercial project is almost entirely implemented with attracted bank financing and private investor funds. The event can be called revolutionary for the country's energy and ecology. For the first time in Russia, the most advanced waste disposal technologies have been introduced.
Sergey Chemezov, Head of Rostec

According to Chemezov, there are about 2,500 such installations operating worldwide.
