The Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant (KMZ) military-industrial holding has entered into an agreement with PJSC Gazprom for the manufacture and supply of two VHD-5.1 coolers for diesel engines, the holding's press service reported.
Water and oil coolers are an important part of the diesel engine cooling system. They cool the water and oil that circulate through channels in the engine block, which helps to remove excess heat and ensures normal engine operation.
The holding's press service added that KMZ has fully mastered the production of water and oil coolers, as well as coolers for foreign-made engines.
About VHD-type water coolers
These coolers are installed on small high-speed ships, vessels and boats, in cooling systems for power plants. The VHD type is a shell-and-tube type with flat tubes. The cooling medium is sea water.
About MHD-type oil coolers
Oil coolers have a brazed shell-and-tube design consisting of flat-oval cupronickel tubes with a turbulator brazed inside the tubes. The equipment operates at high pressure and is resistant to seawater. MHDs are used on ships and power plants.
