The ice-class patrol ship "Nikolai Zubov" (Project 23550) is scheduled to be transferred to the Russian Navy in 2027, according to Andrey Bystrov, acting general director of JSC "Admiralty Shipyards."
He promised that the shipyard would fulfill its obligations for the construction and transfer of ships to the customer on time.
We have everything for this: people, equipment, modernization. We are ready.
According to him, the launched ship "Nikolai Zubov" will go to sea trials as it becomes ready in late 2025-early 2026. The lead ship of Project 23550 "Ivan Papanin" will be delivered by August 2025, Bystrov added.
About Project 23550
The "Nikolai Zubov" combat icebreaker was laid down in the fall of 2019. Project 23550 was developed by specialists from the Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau (part of USC). Ships of this project have no analogues in terms of a number of technical characteristics.
Their purpose is escorting, towing, and protecting ships. The combat icebreakers will be armed with MANPADS and an artillery installation, and will also be equipped with radar. The developers have provided for the placement of a helicopter on the ship's deck.
