Roskomnadzor has announced the possibility of blocking calls via messengers in Russia. A complete legislative ban on international calls is being considered as a measure to protect against fraudsters.
No new laws will be required to implement this ban, and Roskomnadzor may start acting at any time. It was additionally noted that telecom operators can independently combat fraudulent calls using additional protection tools.
In turn, MegaFon expressed the opinion that any measures against telephone fraud should be carefully worked out. Otherwise, it could harm subscribers.
The state and telecom operators, responding to emerging threats, are adopting and improving measures aimed at combating telephone fraud. However, each such measure requires detailed study so that its application does not cause inconvenience to subscribers.
MTS and Beeline have so far refrained from commenting.
