The Russian fifth-generation 177S engine for tactical aircraft has a significantly increased service life and power. It was first presented at the Airshow China 2024 in Zhuhai, China.
Alexander Grachev, General Director of JSC "ODK," noted that the 177S has significantly different life cycle parameters — it is tripled compared to previous engines. The universal 177S can be installed on all aircraft of the "Sukhoi" family. Only a small modernization will be required when installed on the Su-57.
In terms of technical characteristics and overall dimensions, the engine corresponds to the previous generation. At the same time, its thrust has been increased - it is 14.5 tons, which is 2 tons more than the previous generation. The time between overhauls is 1 500 hours, and the assigned resource is 6 000 hours. There has been nothing like this in Russian aviation until now. There are no such engines in China yet.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the Gvozdika self-propelled artillery unit and D-30 howitzers will start hitting the enemy even further, they received the latest shells with a range of 19.3 km.
