Unmanned Freight Trains May Be Created in Russia

Such trains are already operating within railway stations

Unmanned trains for freight transportation may appear in Russia. This was announced by the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, Roman Starovoit.

It is quite possible. This is the formation of freight trains, shunting locomotives. They are already operating on our railways, within railway stations.
Roman Starovoit, Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation

It is worth noting that in August of this year, Russian Railways launched a partially unmanned Lastochka train. Despite the fact that the train is still controlled by a driver from the cabin, the implementation of this project was an important step towards the further development of railway transport.

Earlier, the head of Russian Railways, Oleg Belozerov, also noted that the holding intends to launch a fully unmanned train by 2026. This opens up new horizons for the development of transport infrastructure in Russia.

Earlier www1.ru reported that Russian Railways intends to launch unmanned trains by 2030 .
