РЖД к 2030 году намерены запустить беспилотные поезда

The first steps towards this technology have been taken on the MCC

Oleg Belozerov, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Russian Railways, announced this at the international forum of digital technologies in transport and logistics "Digital Transportation-2024", answering a question about the transition to railway unmanned technology.

It already exists, we are teaching trains. We are teaching them on the MCC, it was the most difficult thing - to teach them on the MCC. The only thing the driver does is open and close the doors.

He noted that now the driver is switching to operator mode. Partial application of robotization is also planned.

I think that in 8-10 years it will be possible to make a train with unmanned control. A person will monitor the train, and I think that by 2030 it will be possible to do this.

He also noted that digitalization requires special data storage. According to Belozerov, the amount of information in Russian Railways is 39 petabytes, 17 thousand business terms and 48 indicators are used. For its storage and application, a domestic analogue has been developed, which is used by more than 160 thousand people, and Russian Railways is ready to share this experience in working with big data.
